Inception Workshop on “Empowering Communities of Tigray through Trauma-Informed Care”

In a bid to address the pressing mental health needs of communities in Tigray, an inception workshop on the project "Empowering Communities of Tigray through Trauma-Informed Care" was organized by the Alliance of Civil Society Organization of Tigray (ACSOT) in collaboration with USAID/ESP. The workshop was held in Mekelle and Axum, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from religious council, community leaders, Edir, CSOs/CBOs, representatives of youth and Women. A total of 40 participants 20 in Mekelle and 20 in Axum were attended in the workshop. The objective of the inception workshop is to make key stakeholders engaged in the project and enhance their understanding of trauma informed care. The opening session of the workshop was marked by a keynote address from Mr. Yared Berhe, the Executive Director of ACSOT, who emphasized the importance of implementing the project by addressing the mental health challenges faced by communities in Tigray. He highlighted the need for a holistic approach that takes into account the unique benefits of implementing the project through trauma-informed care. The workshop featured with presenting the project and interactive discussions aimed at defining the scope and objectives of the project. Participants engaged in discussions on implementing the project effectively and efficiently. The workshop concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work together to implement the project for empowering communities in Tigray through trauma-informed care. Participants expressed their optimism about the potential impact of the project and their determination to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by trauma.
