Launch of the Tigray Women Business Resource Center

The Tigray Women Business Resource Center was officially launched on June 20, 2025, in Mekelle, marking a major milestone in empowering women entrepreneurs in the region. The event was attended by government representatives, UN agencies and NGO representatives, Financial institution, civil society leaders, and development partners who emphasized the importance of supporting women’s economic empowerment in the post-conflict recovery process.
The center is established through a GIZ-Women Economic Empowerment Program and implemented in Tigray through the collaborative partnership among the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), the Alliance of Civil Society Organizations of Tigray (ACSOT) and the Tigray Women Entrepreneurs Association (TWEA). The program is being implemented with generous support from German Development Cooperation, the European Union, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Kingdom of the Netherlands.
During the event, invited guests along with representatives from GIZ and CIPE took the stage to deliver remarks highlighting the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs in Tigray.
In their remarks, they highlighted the critical role women play in rebuilding the local economy and stressed the need for continuous investment in business skills, access to finance, and networking opportunities. The center aims to serve as a hub for capacity building, mentorship, information sharing, and business support services tailored to the needs of women-led enterprises.

This initiative represents a step forward in advancing inclusive economic development in Tigray and creating a strong foundation for resilient, women-led businesses.

The Alliance of Civil Society Organizations of Tigray (ACSOT) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-partisan and multi-sector regional CSOs consortium founded in 2007 G.C. and re-registered as per the proclamation of CSOs Proclamation No. 1113/2019 as an Ethiopian Regional consortium. Currently, ACSOT embraces 72 national and regional CSOs operating allover Tigray.
