In a significant move towards the rejuvenation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the
aftermath of conflict in the Tigray regional state, an inception workshop was conducted in
January 30, 2024 for the project “Rebuilding Civil Society Organizations in Post-Conflict
Context in Tigray”. The workshop was attended by representatives from local CSOs,
international organizations, and government departments responsible for CSO activities. This
gathering served as a vital forum for aligning stakeholders to ensure the successful
implementation of the project.
The participants took part in an interactive session, posing questions and offering insights on the
project’s objectives for landscape mapping. Staff from NED and ACSOT responded to these
queries, addressing any concerns raised. Both international and local CSOs recognized the
project’s relevance and timely intervention. In a show of commitment, these organizations
pledged their support by sharing data, personnel resources, and contributing to the rebuilding
roadmap.
The workshop, which took place at the Amdina Hotel in Mekelle City, concluded with Yared
Berhe, the executive director of ACSOT, underlining the importance of stakeholder engagement
for the success of the project. This event marks a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to rebuild
and strengthen civil society in the region.
The Alliance of Civil Society Organizations of Tigray (ACSOT) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-partisan and multi-sector regional CSOs consortium founded in 2007 G.C. and re-registered as per the proclamation of CSOs Proclamation No. 1113/2019 as an Ethiopian Regional consortium. Currently, ACSOT embraces 72 national and regional CSOs operating allover Tigray.
