Under the “Peace by Her Hands: Building Inclusive and Lasting Peace through Women’s Empowerment” (ELiDA Project), ACSOT conducted a coordination meeting and strategic planning session focused on strengthening women’s meaningful engagement in peacebuilding.
The session brought together 25 women-led and women-focused Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to discuss challenges, opportunities and practical actions for increasing women’s participation in peacebuilding processes.
During the meeting, the Trainer introduced the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and provided a brief presentation on how to prepare an effective strategic plan. Participants then conducted and presented a SWOT analysis, identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats affecting women’s participation in peacebuilding.
The participants also jointly developed a shared vision and mission aimed at ensuring meaningful women’s participation in peacebuilding over the next three years. In addition, they developed a joint and actionable action plan aligned with the four pillars of the WPS agenda: participation, protection, prevention, and relief and recovery. The action plan was prepared based on the thematic areas and project activities of the participating CSOs.
As a way forward, participants discussed practical mechanisms for sustaining women’s engagement in peacebuilding, strengthening coordination among women-led organizations, and promoting women’s voices in community and decision-making processes.
